After chowin’ down on some Chinese food yesterday, we loaded up the van and headed back to Holland. We arrived at Willemeen in Arnhem – it was a really impressive venue. Good sound, lighting, and even a smoke machine. Thanks to all of the staff there – y’all made us feel very welcome. We were fortunate to share the stage last night with The Cowpokes, a local traditional bluegrass band. These guys were great musicians and cool, laid back dudes. Last night’s crowd was really into the show and we had a good time meeting many of them after our set. We even got to autograph a hot girl’s shirt – a total rockstar moment. After we made it back to Belgium, our tour manager Gert took us to his regular bar and introduced us to some of his friends and to some more delicious Belgian beer. We proceeded to get straight up crunk. Hell yes.

So apparently if you wear red boots out in Holland or Belgium, that is what they call “f@%k me” boots. Jenna wore red boots to the jail. Yeah, now that is just something. So we played a jail. They wouldn’t let us take pics in the jail, but we did get some pics of the walls and razor wire and with a guard. After going through the security of guards and the warden, we got up on stage and played a show for the inmates. They were actually really into it; i guess we were just like sweet lady freedom. Then last night we ventured back into Holland and played Cafe’ Tielemans. This was a little honkey tonk kinda place and before the show, they fed us…horse. That’s right, Jason, Tanis and I ate horse. It tasted like pot roast. The locals were very energetic, and we had a hoot of a time playing for them. It actually reminded us of a Stag night. Everyone drank the same kind of beer and ignored the smoking laws. The owners kept beers in our hands and we kept the rock in their ears. A good trade. Tanis is keeping a beer on her eye to help it not be gross, well not as gross i guess. Its pretty gross. We call that beer the Eye-niken, because it’s a Heineken. Get it?

Here we are with the gate guard in Mechelen

Cafe Tielemans

Mmmm... tastes like... My Little Pony

The Eye-neken (actually, this is a stand in for the regular eye-nekin)

Hey all. Hope you have been enjoying our posts so far. and i know you enjoy our posts. ha! Anyway, last night we ventured back into Holland to a town called Oud-Beijerland to play Sheggy’s place. This was a cool room. The people were all very nice, and we had many Grolsch beers with them. Also we have discovered that riding around in the van to and from shows makes me go right to sleep. Weird. Today we actually have a day off to recoop so we are going to not do that and take a train into Brussels and see some Brussels things i guess. Anyway, no photos today, we are just heading out into the cold and rain here in Lichtaart and catching that train. Tomorrow, Jail!

Last night we played a show in Rumst at an awesome place called Ace Cafe. It was a honkey tonk bar. There was a lot cool tiki bar stuff everywhere. Everyone was great. We made a few new friends. Tony G doesn’t like flying or getting tattoos but he still is a very cool, tough guy. Chris, the owner, joined jason in the “Belgium Big Nose Association” . Lynn had the coolest, sexy shoes on in the bar. And Marianne and Florence gave us a lot of good info on where to spend our day off. We got to sign the wall by the stage. Thanks for the delicious spaghetti! Belgium Beer is the BEST. Duvel for life. Ace Cafe, keep rockin’!
